The dazzling sequin dress worn by Carey Mulligan to this year's Met Ball has sold on eBay for $2,950.
The four-figure final bid has been deemed a 'bargain' for the custom-made Prada dress, which came in a tiny U.S. size 2-4, and was embellished with hundreds of gold and silver sequins.
A typical Prada dress would cost up to $4,000; custom and heavily embellished creations sell for several times that figure.
Thirty-five bidders battled it out for the 'piece of fashion history,' which appeared for auction only two days after the 26-year-old wore the dress on the red carpet earlier this month.
The actress auctioned off her dress with a starting bid of $500 to help raise money for Oxfam America.
While the sparkling halter-neck dress quickly received bids, it was expected to fetch a larger sum.
This isn't the first time Mulligan has donated a red-carpet dress to Oxfam, however.
The actress gave her Vionnet gown she wore to the 2010 BAFTA Awards, where she won best actress for her role in An Education, to Oxfam also, which the charity then sold on her behalf.
Prada has unveiled it's latest short film at Cannes.
Written and directed by Oscar winner Roman Polanski, the three-minute long feature stars Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kingsley garbed in the luxury label.
The Italian fashion house hopes it will build on the success of previous cinematography projects.

Screened as part of the Cannes Classic selection, 'A Therapy' depicts Bonham Carter as a troubled rich girl visiting her silent psychoanalyst, played by Kingsley.
Draped in pearls, she reclines on a velvet chaise longue and starts recalling, in length, a bad dream: 'Last time you reminded me that if I had a dream I should tell you about it. And last night I did have a dream, a nightmare really.
'I was alone in a vast arena and on the stage was a rock band and I couldn’t hear the music, total silence, I was consumed by panic, what does it mean? Does it symbolizse my loneliness?'
But as she continues to dwell on her problems, Kingsley gets increasingly distracted by her purple fur coat hanging near the door of his study.
He walks over and tries it on and despite its poor fit, admires its beauty in the mirror. The finishing clip features a shot of him with the grey fur pressed against his face and a caption reading 'Prada suites everyone.'
Talking about the project Polanski states: 'The chance to dwell on what the fashion world represents nowadays and the fact that it is accompanied by so many stereotypes is fascinating and at the same time a bit upsetting, but you definitely cannot ignore it.
'When I was asked to shoot a short movie for Prada, I did not think that could really be myself, but the reality is that in the total freedom I was given, I had the opportunity to reunite my favourite group of people on set and just have fun.'
A Prada spokesperson said that branding had been kept to a minimum, adding: 'We wanted to keep it light and funny, we see this as a film, not an advertisement.'
Shot in Paris a few months ago, the Cannes Film Festival became interested after Polanski sent it to the festival director. It's now available on the brand's website.
Prada was founded by Mario Prada in 1913 as a leather goods business. In 1978 it came under the helm of his granddaughter Miuccia Prada, who transformed it into one of the world's most respected clothing and luxury goods labels.
The 27-year-old singer looked sixties chic as she donned a white crochet shift dress with high neck and short sleeves to attend An Evening With Women at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Simpson was thrilled to turn up for a cause close to her heart and tweeted about the gay, lesbian and bisexual celebration organised by Perry.
Alongside a picture of the singer songwriter she wrote on Twitter: ‘So happy to support @RealLindaPerry tonight! http://www.aneveningwithwomen.org Check it out! One love :)’
The 35-year-old beauty has quickly become the most fashionable juror at the 11-day film festival with her lace-up Versus mini-dress, mint green Giambattista Valli gown, red cleavage-bearing Calvin Klein dress, and asymmetrical navy Jason Wu gown.
Joined by her fellow juror, designer Jean Paul Gaultier, Diane carried a silver clutch and wore her blonde hair halfway-up in a demure style as she posed for photographers at the Palais des Festivals.
She continued, 'I have been on the other side, so I have to be extra sensitive and keep an open mind. If I had a film here I would not want my jury member to be half-asleep.'
Yesterday the jury, including director Alexander Payne, met to discuss which films should be honored with the festival's highest award, the Palm D'or, on May 27.
'It's a little weird being next to the Alexander Payne's of the world, but it's an interesting mix of people with different points of view,' said the actress, who has been watching two films every day.

Elettra Wiedemann, daughter of model and actress Isabella Rossellini, granddaughter of Swedish film star Ingrid Bergman, will be the face of Coast's new spring/summer collection.
The model showcases the store's new collection of occasionwear, which will be sold in the brand's new flagship store, set to open on London's Oxford Street on 28 June.
Coast said they had selected the model thanks not only to her natural radiance, but also for her 'impeccable' pedigree.
'Her natural, timeless beauty and radiance aligns perfectly with the contemporary glamour of Coast,' they said.
'We chose Elettra for her flawless style and impeccable fashion lineage.'
Indeed, Elettra has seen her career go from strength to strength since landing her first modelling job at the age of 18, for youth clothing brand Abercrombie & Fitch.
She has since appeared in ads for Bill Blass, Ferragamo and Samsonite, and walked the runway at global fashion week shows.
Elettra has been a spokesmodel for Lancome since 2006, appearing in a number of their advertising campaigns.
Like many of her contemporaries, Elettra has graced the pages of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar - but she has talents that lie far beyond her ability to look good in a frock.
Thanks to her Italian heritage, Elettra has a passion for food, and each New York fashion week opens up a pop-up restaurant called GOODNESS at the city's Columbus Center where she feeds up her peers and fashion industry folk during the week's events.
The food is conjured up courtesy of the Big Apple's celebrity chefs including Mario Batali, Julian Medina, and Alain Allegretti, who all take a night each.
Elettra's first modelling job was for photographer Bruce Weber who chose her for a campaign he shot for Abercrombie & Fitch when she was 18 years old. Below, Elettra at a Dior show earlier this year
