I'm not really surprised by this. It seems that Nicole Richie has been accused of copying another designer's dress for her Winter Kate fashion line.
The Fashion Star mentor, 30, featured a white kaftan-style dress in her spring 2012 collection, but an article on Radar Online suggests that it is near identical to the Barbet dress by the label Odylyne.
Copy Kate? A $475 dress from Nicole Richie's Winter Kate collection (left) bears many similarities to a $286 design by label Odylyne (right), from last year
The site says she was seen wearing the $286 Odylyne version last year.
Richie was seen in her Jazbaa dress last summer - though it could have been the Odylyne design
Richie wore a white gypsy-inspired, asymmetrically-hemmed frock with a brown braided belt, in Los Feliz during the summer.
Of course it may have been an early sample of the 'Jazbaa' dress from her own line - the hemline of the Winter Kate dress is slightly longer than the Odylyne one, and the garment worn by the star almost grazes the ground.
On the other hand, Richie is just 5ft 1in tall, so the floor-grazing look may be due to her height, therefor the dress in question may be the Odylyne design.
The Winter Kate dress is currently retailing for $475, almost double the cost of the Odylyne one.
Seems fishy to me.
