Janet Jackson is speaking out about her dramatic weight loss, revealing she never weighs herself and still eats caramel apples, her favorite food.
The 46-year-old pop icon said that after years of yo-yo dieting, she is finally the size she wants to be, but is no longer a slave to the scale.
The singer told People magazine: 'I don't know how much weight I've lost, only because I stay away from the scale. 'I don't think [stepping on the scale] is healthy.'
She explained: 'You're setting yourself up to fail and women's bodies fluctuate every month - certain times of the month in particular - we bloat a great deal.'
Jackson is the new spokesperson for weight-loss program Nutrisystem, and the company couldn't have asked for a more successful walking advertisement.
The singer emphasised that Nutrisystem is responsible for her healthy weight-loss.
'It works, point blank,' she said. 'You don't have to starve yourself getting there.'
Jackson insists she doesn't deprive herself of her favorite foods, either.
She said: 'I love caramel apples! NutriSystem doesn't have that, so that's probably my cheat food.'
She also explained that keeping the weight off is all about moderation, and exercise.
'I go out to dinner with friends [too], but then I just get back on it. It's about maintenance,' she said.
'And if I'm getting ready for something like a tour, I work out six days a week.
'I like to switch it up. I may go for a run or bike,' she added.
Jackson has been open about her struggle with weight and body image in the past, admitting that she is an emotional eater.
She told Us Weekly last year: 'When I'm down or really stressed, I eat because that's my comfort place.
'I've had a problem with my body image. You need to look at yourself and say, "I like this, I feel good about this. I feel healthy, I feel strong and this is where I want to be,"' she added
The newly slimmed-down singer proclaims in her new Nutrisystem commercial, 'This is what success looks like!'
It appears she really means it, explaining she is 'really happy' with the way she feels.
She said: 'I feel very good, and it's been a long time since I've felt this good.'
