There is no better time or place than Paris Fashion Week to try out the season’s most over-the-top, impractical items. And that is what the fashion crowd has done this week with what is arguably spring 2012′s most ridiculous accessory: Balenciaga‘s visor hat.
Yep, people–well, fashion people–have actually been wearing this black Darth Vader-esque number around during the day, on the street, while doing things and going to places. Here’s photographic evidence. Who knows whether or not they’ll continue to do so once fashion month has come and gone, but it was fun while it lasted, right?
This hat’s ridiculousness doesn’t end at its design. We called up Balenciaga to find out the price and where we might be able to purchase it. The answer: they only got one for the entire United States and it sold. For $3,250. And it’s not really the kind of thing you can call an investment piece. Hopefully everyone who did buy one got photographed by a street style photographer since it is the kind of moment that deserves to be immortalized.
