Tom Ford Fall/Winter 2012

The lucky few invited to Tom Ford's very private fall/winter 2012 collection were forbidden from sharing images of his newest creations.
At long last, the designer has revealed the full collection by way of a video on his label's website.
Ford has been teasing fans with glimpses of key pieces for weeks. Gwyneth Paltrow to wear a dazzling white caped gown to the Oscars, and last week Jennifer Lawrence wore a racy backless dress to the Paris premiere of The Hunger Games.

The super-sexy new video shows the clothes we'll all want to be wearing (but are unlikely to afford) come summer end.
In a moody setting, models flash past the video screen dressed in ultra-luxe, skin-tight trousers, skirts, dresses and high-collared fitted jackets.

Mirrored panels at the rear of the set suggestively show off the collection's low-cut backs and asymmetrical necklines.
In fact, the back gets a lot of attention this season with plenty of skin showing and linear necklines that are high and slashed to act as a contrast.

Then there's the red carpet-worthy gowns with their beckoning sheer panels and the styling with heavy gold hardware worn on the cuffs and around the neck.

One gold, knee-length dress is covered with snakeskin scales that have been individually handsewn onto mesh. The British Telegraph newspaper reports that the garment could cost around $22,000.
Zips feature on low slashes on the back of dresses and trouser ankles - a functional and fashionable detail that gives the option of wearing the legs zipped-up and fitted and flared.
Animal skin is used liberally throughout - with snakeskin skirts and dresses, as well as shapes resembling individual alligator scales on a shoe strap.

Red carpet ready: The long, fitted dress shape was a major theme in the collection, with embellishments such as beading (left), seductive sheer panels (middle), and matte black snakeskin (right), providing the wow factor

Heavy metal: Tom Ford used collars and cuffs of gold to ramp up the sex appeal of his outfits

Winter coats are bright and made from alpaca and fur in eye-catching orange, canary yellow and bright pink. Further pops of colour are used in accessories, such as a red clutch with an enlarged gold hinge.
Like many of the major design houses, the use of fur is liberal with beaver and even skunk pelts - the latter in a collared black and white striped coat.
Black does rule the day, however - namely in skin-tight leather knee-length skirts that hug the hips and are worn with over-the-knee boots with barely any skin showing in between.
As show-stopping as the final pieces are, the designer is notoriously private about his collections and invites only a select band of buyers and editors to view them.

Magnetic: Metallics comes in a dramatic collar necklace and a gold snakeskin knee-length dress with high neckline and long sleeves. The reptile scales have been individually sewn onto a mesh underlayer

Hot hues: Black featured heavily in the collection, with textures used to break up the monotony. However, Ford did keep the momentum going with brightly coloured fur coats and accessories

Unlike the majority of publicity-needy designers, Ford never has photographers at his presentations so that he has maximum control over how the images are released.
