According to the Daily Mail, David Beckham will grace the cover of Elle UK as the magazine's first ever solo male fashion cover star.
Talking about the 'really exciting' venture - his first appearance on the cover of a women’s glossy magazine - the LA Galaxy ace said: 'ELLE is a prestigious magazine with international recognition.
'I'm honored to have been asked to be the first ever solo male fashion cover.'
The July issue is said to be 'a nod to the Olympic Games by featuring a global icon famous for both his style and athletic prowess'.
Ewan McGregor posed with Renee Zellweger in November 2003 to promote their film Down With Love, while Oasis bad boy Liam Gallagher posed with Nicole Appleton for the January 2001 edition
Editor-in-Chief Lorraine Candy, said: 'David Beckham is a national hero, so we saw an opportunity to shoot a celebratory cover to support an historical and patriotic year.
'He is an icon and ELLE is known for featuring icons on its cover. This is a first for us on the newsstand and I believe he is loved by men and women alike.
'Anyway, who doesn't want to see a picture of one of the world's most handsome men on the front cover of a magazine? It will be a collector’s issue.'
While David will be the first solo male star, fellow members of the opposite sex have featured previously.
Paul Weller posed with Kate Moss in February 1997, while Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger took to the newsstands in January 2001, and Nicole Appleton and Liam Gallagher in November 2003.
David is hardly a stranger to modelling though, frequently striking his best angle in his briefs for his H&M range.
